A Piece of Steak

Jack London's A Piece of Meat present the story of a duel between two boxers.  Old and young.  They fought in a professional ring for money. I would like to tell you about an interesting  short story written by Jack London that first appeared in the Saturday Evening Post in November 1909.  It took him about a crescent.  write it and earned him five hundred dollars. The story talks about aging and the inevitability of decline towards possible death.  In addition, it illustrates the old story of a mature, experienced fighter fighting an ambitious and powerful opponent. Important history shows the abhorrent nature of poverty.In case the story is about Tom King, a boxer at the very end of his career.  Once he spent money freely and lavishly on himself and others, now he is so poor that local merchants don't even give him a piece of steak.  Before fighting the rising star Sandel, he only eats bread and gravy and must send his wife and children to sleep without food.  Although King is much more experienced and tactically advanced than Sandel, King is losing the battle.  He knows that if he could eat a steak before the fight, the result would be different.  Since he has already received a loan for the loser's share of the wallet, he leaves the fight in despair penniless.  The story ends with King crying on his two-mile drive home as he can not afford the taxi ride. I really recommend and advise you this story. If I had not read this story, I would not have learned that I entered the ring hungry, there was not enough money for good food. His blow was weak.  The young fighter withstood the last blow of the sports veteran and hit back himself.  The veteran lost due to the fact that there was simply not enough money for a good breakfast - steak with meat.  Therefore, the story is named so.J. London himself was engaged in boxing, so the story is written with great knowledge of the matter.
